Ocean's Eleven (2001)

Wow. You know, I thought this movie was going to be another pretentious, serious, "mature" film. I can easily say it proved me wrong. Ocean's Eleven had more "holy shit that's cool" moments than most movies I've seen.

The first thing that struck me was George Clooney & Brad Pitt's on-screen chemistry. All the actors performed well, of course, but I finally see why people rave about the two in particular. I wish Matt Damon's character was a bit more prominent, though.

The one gripe I have with the plot is Julia Roberts as Clooney's love interest. The whole romance story arc (all 10 minutes of it) felt rushed and force-fed to the viewer. I understand that most of it lies in backstory, but the motive of $13 million a piece seemed better than the love of a woman I know nothing about from the film.

The atmosphere is done well, too. The casinos from AC to Vegas were cool (wasn't expecting an east coast locale) and the music fit the mood. I especially enjoyed the poker scene near the
